Natalie Hyde

Bio:

Natalie Hyde was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick and grew up in Galt (now Cambridge), Ontario. She spent most of her childhood collecting crickets, toads and tent caterpillars. The rest of the time she practiced being a genie. When that didn’t work out she studied languages at the University of Waterloo where she received an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree.

She began writing stories for her own children and one Christmas presented each of them with their own book. She was delighted and horrified when they wanted the same thing again the following year. Eight books later, there was no turning back. She loves living in her imagination where anything is possible and children are heroes.

Natalie is also a genealogist and has traced her family back to the early 1800’s in Canada. Among her relatives she discovered a murderer, a ghost and a daring sea captain. She is still hoping to find a pirate or two.

Natalie lives with her husband and four children in a house with too many stairs, which they share with a little leopard gecko and a cat that desperately wants to eat him.
