Carol Breedlove

Bio:

Carol was born in Illinois, USA, and spent her early years in New Lenox. She moved to Philadelphia, Mississippi with her family in 1978. Carol has also lived in Valdosta and Atlanta, Georgia, and Tallahassee, Florida. In 2000, she moved to Düsseldorf, Germany.

She is now an international school elementary teacher who currently lives in Hilden, Germany. She has been teaching young students since 2000 at the International School of Düsseldorf in Germany. Before moving to Germany, she taught second grade students at Frank Hartsfield Elementary School in Tallahasee, Florida.

Carol’s love of children and story-telling is what inspires her to write for young people. Reading stories to her 5- and 6-year-old students is one of her favorite things to do. She also enjoys traveling and gardening. Gardening keeps her grounded and gives her a sense of "home". Traveling inspires her creativity and fuels her ideas for new stories.

Carol has written a chapter, “Developing the Basic English Language Skills of Young Children in a Linguistically Diverse Classroom,” for the book, Welcoming Linguistic Diversity in Early Childhood Classrooms: Learning from International Schools. This academic publication was published in June 2011.

Carol's first picture book is being illustrated by Monika Godsmark. She is currently working on a chapter book for children aged 9-12.
