Barbara DiLorenzo

Bio:

Barbara Willcox DiLorenzo graduated with a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1998. She jumped into web and graphic design immediately after college, and continued working in this field for over a decade.

Moving to New York city in 2010 allowed Barbara to change directions, and come back to traditional art and illustration. She took full-time classes at the Art Students League from 2010–2011. In 2011, Barbara also began teaching for The Creative Center. She continues to teach watercolor painting in the senior center at Confucius Plaza once a week.

In 2012, Barbara stopped taking classes at the Art Students League so that she could focus on her writing and illustration for children. During the summer of 2012, two of her drawings were juried into the Salmagundi non-member show and one watercolor painting was juried into the National New England Watercolor show.

Barbara has become an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, attending national and regional conferences in 2012. She is a member of several critique groups, and regularly visits her local bookstores for inspiration. One of her book projects was juried in to the Rutgers One-on-One conference in October of 2012.

Barbara is looking forward to someday publishing her work with a traditional publisher. It is the love of process, of painting characters and crafting a story, that gives her real satisfaction each day.
