Bio:
Candy Quimpo Gourlay is a Filipino author based in the United Kingdom. She won a place in the 2008 Undiscovered Voices anthology, SCBWI British Isles' ground breaking competition. Her debut novel TALL STORY was published to critical acclaim by David Fickling Books in 2010. Candy reported on the fall of the Marcos dictatorship in 1986 in Manila. She married a British journalist and ended up in England working first as a journalist and later as a blogger and web designer. In 2005, she returned to the Philippines to write and present the Radio 4 documentary, MOTHERLESS NATION, about the children left behind by migrant workers. Her stories have appeared in a couple of anthologies and on the preschool BBC Channel, CBEEBIES.
