Bio:

Nancy Raines Day's latest wacky safari of a picture book is A is for Alliguitar: Musical Alphabeasts(Pelican Publishing, 2012). Her first book, The Lion’s Whiskers (Scholastic, 1995)--a retelling of an Ethiopian folktale about a loving stepmother--was hailed by The New York Times as one of five notable picture books of the year. Her other books include On a Windy Night (Abrams, 2010), Flamingo's First Christmas (Abrams, 2005), Double Those Wheels (Dutton, 2003, and A Kitten's Year (HarperCollins, 2000).
Before writing for children, Day wrote nonfiction magazine articles on health and historical subjects for 20 years. Currently, she also writes for educational publishers, as well as consulting on picture book texts for SCBWI members.
Day holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from the University of Michigan and Syracuse University. Having raised a son and a daughter, the author lives with her husband and three cats on St. Simons Island in Georgia.
