Ann Angel

Bio:

Ann Angel writes young adult fiction and nonfiction for middle grade and young adults. Her most recent nonfiction titles include JANIS JOPLIN, RISE UP SINGING (Abrams) which received the 2011 YALSA Excellence in Nonfiction Award from the American Library Association, a 2011 SCBWI Crystal Kite Award, and was listed on Booklists's 2011 Top Ten Biographies for Youth and Booklist's 2011 Top Ten Arts Books for Youth. She has also written ROBERT CORMIER, WRITER OF THE CHOCOLATE WAR and AMY TAN, WEAVER OF ASIAN-AMERICAN TALES, both biographies for Enslow Publishers, as well as A READER'S GUIDE TO SANDRA CISNEROS'S THE HOUSE ON MANGO STREET. Her short stories have appeared in a number of anthologies.
A graduate of Vermont College's MFA in writing for children and young adults, when Ann isn't writing or editing short story anthologies, she teaches creative writing and nonfiction at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI. She has also taught online revision workshops and retreat sessions for the Wisconsin SCBWI.
