'f2m;the boy within' (www.fordstreetpublishing.com) is her latest YA novel, co-authored with Ryan Kennedy. A controversial subject, transitioning gender from female to male, but a sympathetic and approachable not sensationalised book, which is an international 'first' by a co-author who has transitoned from female to male. Documentary in progress with Kailash Studios on reactions to the book.

However Hazel is best known for her picture book classic which is celebrating its 33rd anniversary; 'There's a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake(Penguin) Pocket Bonfire Productions film has been screening internationally including Edinburgh Film Festival snd was shown at Sydney Opera House.
As an authorpreneur Hazel believes writers are in the business of creativity and that their intellectual property should be valued. But she also started the first belly dancing class in Antarctica when stuck in the polar ice during an Australian Antarctic Division expedition as writer. Creativity is risking the combination of unlikely ideas in a productive way.
