Author of twenty published books, two more in the pipeline, several unlikely ever to be published. Best known for ELLA ENCHANTED, which won a Newbery honor in 1998. A few others: DAVE AT NIGHT, historical fiction; EVER, a fantasy set in a researched but imagined ancient Mesopotamia; WRITING MAGIC, nonfiction about writing; BETSY WHO CRIED WOLF, my only picture book, soon to be joined by BETSY RED HOODIE.
