About School Visits
Few things can compare to the experience of a child meeting the authors or illustrator of a favorite book. At SCBWI, one of our highest priorities is to support the linking of our members with the educators and librarians who are capable of making such meetings a reality.
The Amber Brown Fund & Grant
Established in the joyous spirit of the late Paula Danziger, (and named for one of her most beloved characters), this grant is given annually by the SCBWI to a deserving school committed to enriching their curriculum with a guest author or illustrator visit. The school chosen from the application process each year is rewarded with an all- expense-paid, full-day visit by a respected children’s author or illustrator. The chosen school also receives a $250 stipend to assist in creating this memorable event to celebrate reading, learning, and children’s literature. Find a Speaker
Search for an SCBWI Member who gives school and library presentations for children. P.A.L. members may upload a short video clip of a presentation for young readers. If you're an educator or librarian you may search this online directory of SCBWI members for a specific author or illustrator, or find out who is in your area.
