Christopher Cheng
Christopher Cheng has taught in infants and primary classes (elementary in USA) at schools across New South Wales as well as spending eight years as Education officer at Taronga Zoo in Sydney (working with both human and non-human animals). He has worked for a large Australian bookseller and he was also employed at Purdue University (USA) developing science based educational CD-ROMs. Chris now has the best job in the world. He is a full time author writing fiction (including historical fiction), picture books and non-fiction titles. He presents talks both in Australian and American Universities and schools. He has written a feature for the fall 2009 issue of The Oneota Reading Journal. He is currently working on a number of book projects and the storyline for an animation series to be produced jointly in Australia and China. Christopher holds a Master of Arts in Children’s Literature. He is on the Advisory board for the online journal First Opinions, Second Reactions about Children’s and Adolescent literature (http://docs.lib.purdue.edu/fosr/) for which he also contributes editorial and opinion pieces. He lives with his wife in Sydney, Australia, and enjoys cooking, travelling and catching up with friends. He has been Co-Regional Advisor for Australia and New Zealand since 2004.
