Melissa Stewart

Melissa Stewart earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Union College and a master’s degree in science journalism from New York University, before working as a children’s science editor for nine years. Since 2000, when she became a freelance writer/editor, Melissa has written everything from board books for preschoolers to magazine articles for adults. She is the award-winning author of more than eighty books for young readers. Her articles have appeared in such publications as Ask, Book List, Click, Highlights for Children, Odyssey, Ranger Rick, Science World, and The Writer. As a Massachusetts Cultural Council Creative Teaching Partner, Melissa enjoys speaking locally and nationally at schools, nature centers, and conferences. She served as the Director of the 2006 SCBWI New England conference and is a judge for the American Institute of Physics Children’s Science Writing Award. www.melissa-stewart.com
