Eligibility

To be eligible to submit your book(s) for the Golden Kite Award, you must be a current PAL member of the SCBWI as of December 31st, 2010. If you are a member now but your membership is scheduled to expire before December 31st, you will need to renew your membership in order to be eligible for the award.

All entries must be in final published form, having been published within the 2010 calendar year, and bearing a copyright date of 2010. Galleys will not be accepted.

The SCBWI encourages publishers to submit books to the SCBWI Golden Kite Awards competition directly, and most publishers receive a packet of materials and submission instructions from the SCBWI Executive Office.

If your publisher is unable to submit your book, you may do so by sending four (4) copies of the book with a brief letter stating which category you are submitting to (Fiction, Nonfiction, Picture Book Text, Picture Book Illustration).

You may submit your book to ONE category only, except in the case of Picture Book Text and Picture Book Illustration. If you would like to submit a book to both the Picture Book Text and Picture Book Illustration categories, you’ll need to send eight (8) copies of the book. Please note that for a book to be eligible for both the Picture Book Text and Picture Book Illustration categories, the author and the illustrator must be members of the SCBWI as of December 31st.

All submissions must be received by December 17, 2010.
