What is a Region?
SCBWI Regions:
When you join SCBWI you automatically become a member of your local region. The SCBWI has over 80 regions around the world. Your region is home to your local community of authors and illustrators. Through your region you can attend events, join critique groups and network with peers. As a member of SCBWI you are also welcome at any other region's events around the world. This means wherever you are there will be other children's book writers and illustrators there to greet you!
Regional Advisors:
Each region is headed by a Regional Advisor (RA) or two co-RAs. Larger regions may also have Assistant Regional Advisor (ARAs) and Illustrator Coordinators (IC) as well as an advisory committee. The RA, ARA, IC and all other leadership posistions are held by volunteers.
Regional Events:
The Regional Advisor oversees all regional events. However, events are only possible with the help of other volunteers in the region. If you have an idea for an event and would like to help organize it please contact your Regional Advisor and read the Volunteer Guidelines. Our regions are kept strong and active with the help of volunteers!
