The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2011 SCBWI Magazine Merit Awards for fiction, nonfiction, illustration and poetry.

Award Certificates

• Maggie Murphy of San Francisco, California for her FICTION piece "The Pixie's Bag” in Spider.
• Karen Gunnison Ballen, of Saint Paul, Minnesota for her NONFICTION piece “Foiled” in Cricket.
• Yoshiko Jaeggi of Silver Spring, Maryland for her ILLUSTRATION “Finley’s Halloween” in Ladybug.
• Susan Kuehn of Webb City, Missouri for her POEM “Rain Party”  in Highlights High Five

• Mary P. Thornburg for her FICTION piece “Niam’s Tale” in Cicada.
• Linda Wirkner for her NONFICTION piece “Here There be Dragons” in Spider.
