This year the SCBWI is teaming up with LitWorld to help make World Read Aloud Day a smashing success!
How best can you help as an author or illustrator?
Check out the the suggestions in the
Read Aloud Day Activity Kit (PDF) or come up with your own creative ideas to get kids reading!
Some quick suggestions:
>Check out what is happening at
Books of Wonder in NYC and see if your local bookstore might be interested in doing some similar events. It is great publicity for them, and great for you too!
>If you have a book out, combine the reading with a book signing or giveaway.
>If you don't live near a gathering place, and are a published author or illustrator, you can participate by Skype!

What else is in it for you?
As writers and illustrators there is no better way to connect with your fans (and potential fans) by volunteering. In addition, building a relationship with a local bookstore is vital to your book's success.
