General Information
Hello Writers and Illustrators,
Spring is upon us. Time to get outside...until fishing, gardening, biking, hiking, and birding have worn you out. Then it's time to write about all those wonderful experiences and inspire our children. Or you bring a notebook with you and write or sketch en plein air.
This coming season is bringing great events events to you every month, and our first conference in a long while.
For many of us, carving out time to write from our "ordinary" jobs, parental duties, and other activities can be a challenge. If sitting down to write isn't challenging enough, finding time to improve our craft is even harder. Or maybe easier--it can be super pleasant to be an armchair writer. Reading about writing and plotting and planning and filling out color coded note cards make for great diversions to writers block. But be sure to dedicate time for actual writing. Committing to a certain amount time, or time of day, or numebr of pages can help. SCBWI offers many opportunities to learn more: critique groups, craft workshops, and conferences, nto to mention comraderie. Come join us!
As your Regional Advisor, I am dedicated to helping bring you what you need. Whether you are a seasoned author, or new to the wonderful world of children's literature, bring your fellow Alaskans your expertise, share your talents, and come learn from others.
Please contact me with concepts for presentations and workshops, requests for critique groups, offers to volunteer, etc.
Happy writing,
Stefanie Tatalias
