SCBWI West member Meg McKinlay has won the Children's/Young Adult Fiction category of the 2012 Davitt Awards, given for crimewriting by Australian women, for her junior novel Surface Tension.



In accepting the award, Meg expressed her surprise at having found herself in the running at all, having somehow failed to realise she was writing crime until her novel appeared on the longlist.



Surface Tension will be published in the US by Candlewick in 2013, under the title Below.
