Are you an educator? A writer with particular expertise on a topic? A writer who loves to research and share findings? This workshop will “demystify” the process of submitting work to educational publishers and how best to get your foot in the door. You will see examples of successful submissions packages (résumé, cover letter and writing samples) and learn what kind of writing samples your packet should include.
OPTIONAL: Bring along a sample cover letter for a chance at feedback (2 copies – one for you, one for the reviewer.)
PRESENTER: Christine Peterson is a managing editor with Capstone, a leading publisher of children’s nonfiction, fiction, and digital media products, with offices in Minnesota, Chicago, and the United Kingdom. She oversees four nonfiction imprints that produce curriculum-based, high-interest nonfiction for struggling and reluctant readers in grades one through six. Before coming to Capstone, Christine spent nine years working as an editor for community newspapers. She lives in Mankato, Minnesota, with her husband and two children.
