The Spring Conference is only a 5 short weeks away. I'm very excited about the opportunities you will have to learn so much and connect with other writers and illustrators. I've gone to a few other conferences now and have put together a 2 1/2 day conference that is flexible and is sure to meet your needs. Our speakers are wonderful and opportunity abounds for you.

 Please save the date for a fantastic SCBWI Dakotas Spring Conference! The event will be held April 12-14th at the Ramkota Inn in Sioux Falls. Friday Intensives in both editing, writing and illustrating with great presenters! Saturday is a full day of break-outs and keynotes with lunch and an optional banquet in the evening. Sunday will feature one more break-out, and a panel discussion with our expert faculty. Conference brochure showcasing faculty, schedule and costs will be available in 2-3 weeks and I"ll send out as soon as I have it ready. Please consider renewing your membership if it has lapsed, as you will receive a generous reduction if you are a current member. I hope you reserve this weekend and are able to make the conference; you won't be disappointed!

As many of you know, I'm stepping down from the position of Regional Advisor of the Dakotas.  Thanks for allowing me to serve you.  I will always treasure the encouragement, support, wisdom, and friendship that you have generously given to me.

And now the for the introductions....

Chris Rylander of Grand Forks, North Dakota, is the new Regional Advisor for the Dakotas.   Mary Scarbrough of Brookings, South Dakota, will be the Assistant Regional Advisor.  The region will be in great hands!

Currently, they are in the process of planning the Spring Dakotas-SCBWI conference to be held April 10, 2010, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

As usual, you'll have the opportunity to submit a manuscript for critique.  Word limit: 1500 words.  Critique submission deadline will be mid-March.  (It's time to start writing!)
