This summer we've started a string of "Meet and Greet" events around the state. These informal gatherings are a chance for members and potential members to learn about SCBWI, give their input about events they'd like to attend, and meet fellow authors and illustrators who live nearby. At least one new critique group has formed thanks to the M&Gs. We've held M&Gs in Omaha, Lincoln, and Grand Island, and are in the process of setting them up in the North Platte and Scottsbluff areas.

We're also developing short, inexpensive workshops that we hope to hold at locations around the state in the coming months. If you're not able to give your input, we'd love to hear your ideas for workshop topics that would appeal to you; you can send a message via the SCBWI website or email the RA at mpleiss@cox.net. We're hoping these workshops will increase attendance for a full-day conference in the fall of 2013. Look for more details about these events in the coming weeks!
