An SCBWI AZ Symposium is a meeting for discussion of a topic in which the participants form an audience and make informal presentations.
Topic: Using Mentor Books to Inform, Elucidate and Inspire Your Own Writing or Illustrating.
Pariticpants may bring up to three examples of texts (fiction or nonfiction) and/or picture book illustrations that have served to inform, elucidate, and/or inspire their own work. Be prepared to share and discuss.
The Symposium will be followed by an SCBWI AZ Critique-nik.
A critique-nik is a amall group guided session for members who want to engage in and learn from peer critiques.
What to Bring to the Critique-nik:
Picture Book Writers: bring five copies of entire manuscript up to 700 words. Nothing longer, please.
Novel Writers: bring five copies of three pages.
Poets: Bring five copies of one poem.
Illustrators: bring five copies of one illustrated sample or five copies of an illustrated picture book dummy up to 700 words.
Nonfiction Writers: bring five copies of three manuscript pages.
Query Letter: bring 5 Copies of one sample.
