General Information

 Welcome to the Oklahoma Chapter of SCBWi!  We are an active and friendly group with ~200 members.  We conduct 2 conferences a year and  monthly schmoozes in both Oklahoma City and Tulsa.  



Our spring conference alternates locations, even-numbered years are in Oklahoma City and odd-numbered years are in Tulsa.  The spring conference is oriented toward learning more about the publishing world. Our speakers are editors, agents, art directors and/or art representatives who provide inside glimpses into the publishing process, submission policies, what is being acquired, timelines, etc. Attendees are given the option to have a manuscript or portfolio critique by one of the speakers at an additional cost.



Our fall conference is held in Chandler, OK and is oriented toward learning more about the craft and the profession of writing and illustrating.  Our speakers are published authors and illustrators who provide expertise on writing and illustrating in specific genres and for specific markets, how to survive rejection, internet presence, how to get past the slush pile, working with a critique group, etc.



Our monthly schmoozes are informal gatherings where we discuss a specific topic and/or hold critique sessions.
