Before an editor ever looks at your manuscript, you should always have someone read your work. One of the best places to find a reader is in a critique group. However, not everyone always knows how to effectively critique a person's work-in-progress. At this meeting, we'll discuss what a critquer needs to look for when reading another author's work. We'll also discuss different ways to from and manage critique groups.
Speaker Madeline Smoot is the editor of Austin' own CBAY Books, a house that hopes to publish quality literature that will end up on the Banned Books List someday.
