Sometimes life gets in the way of writing, and sometimes it dovetails in uncanny ways. For Sara Kocek, the 9 months leading up to the birth of her daughter and the sale of her first book were a little bit of both. Join us for a talk about the joys and frustrations of birthing, raising, and nurturing a book when life has other plans.
Sara Kocek knew she was destined to write fiction when she unearthed her childhood diary and discovered it was full of details that never happened. A graduate of Yale University, she holds an MFA in Creative Writing from New York University, where she taught fiction and poetry to undergraduates. A freelance editor and college essay coach, Sara has served as the Program Director at the Writers' League of Texas, a literary nonprofit. Her debut YA novel, What Happened at Talmadge Hill, is forthcoming from Albert Whitman in 2013.
