LOCATION/TIME: UIW Joyce Bldg 126, San Antonio, TX - 9:30 am - 3:00 pm
Imagine what you could do with five hours entirely devoted to writing a novel for children! Imagine what could happen if you spend a day writing, sharing, and rethinking ideas with other like-minded writers. Claim your time to listen to character voices, lay out a blueprint for story structure, visualize key scenes and sharpen ideas for both internal and external conflicts. Away from Internet, cell phones, and family interruptions, what could you really accomplish in your writing?
The workshop is designed for those who want to write for ages 8-16. Regardless if your goals are still daydreams, or you’ve written only three chapters, the writing time will benefit your novel-in-progress. Through guided prompts, extended time for reflection, reading to partners, and learning strategies to build tension, suspense, and satisfying endings, participants have an opportunity to gain confidence, find support, and explore new ideas for turning random scribbles into a concrete project to develop and eventually publish as a novel. Even during lunch, there will be writing!
Bring writing notebook and a sack lunch. Drinks will be provided.
Registration is limited to 15 participants.
