- How do I get to Ashton, Idaho?
Ashton is easily accessible off of I-15 (north/south) in eastern Idaho. You can fly into Idaho Falls and drive just a short distance to Ashton. You can also fly into Salt Lake City or Boise and drive from there. For further details, see the web site for Stonefly Lodge at www.stoneflylodgeidaho.com and click on Getting Here.
- How long does a novel have to be?
There is no set length. If you consider it a novel, no matter what age the audience is, then you have a novel.
- My travel arrangements will only work if I come the day before. Can I stay at the lodge?
Yes. We have reserved the lodge for the night of April 29 so that Darcy and our volunteers have time to arrive and prepare. If you need to arrive early, you are welcome to stay at the lodge for a small additional fee. The amount will depend on the number of people in the lodge that night, likely around $50. There are no additional nights reserved at the lodge. If you want to spend more time in the area, you will need to make your own lodging arrangements.
- I have a picture book manuscript. Can I come to the retreat anyway?
Sorry, no. This is specifically for novel manuscripts only. We hope to offer a picture book retreat in the coming years.
- What books will I need for the retreat?
Self Editing for Fiction Writers, by Renni Browne
The First Five Pages, by Noah Lukeman
Novel Metamorphosis, by Darcy Pattison
