2012 SCBWI Australia and New Zealand Biennial Conference 29th June to 2nd July 2012 at The Hughenden Hotel 14 Queen St Woollahra

In recognition of Australian writers, illustrators, digital creators across genres and mediums, this year’s conference is showcasing authors and illustrators from across Australia and New Zealand.
The multi award winning Sally Murphy whose deeply emotional novels -Pearl Verses the World and Toppling- will be flying in from sheep country in Western Australia. Corinne Fenton one of Australia’s best picture book authors will be flying in from regional Victoria. The acclaimed author, script writer film producer and author Pamela Rushby whose new historical novel The Horses Didn’t Come Home will be launched at the festival, is flying in from Queensland. Nina Rycroft the talented illustrator of the acclaimed Ballroom Bonanza is flying in from New Zealand. Authors and illustrators are coming from all over the country to share and engage in the creative life of children’s books. Saturday night is the wild piano bar entertainment with where the SCBWI Book Ends with authors Meredith Costain, Chris Cheng & Scott Chamber sing, play and everyone has a ball.
Australian Publishers and editors from Walker Books, HarperCollins, RandomHouse, ABC Books, Five Mile Press, Penguin, Scholastic and more, are participating and supporting this conference. USA literary agent Jill Corcoran from the Herman Agency New York, is flying into Sydney and will give the keynote on ‘What the world is publishing’ opening ideas and opportunities. There will be pitching ideas, panels, networking, craft and a celebration of writing for young people.
Publishing deals & contracts are part of this highly successful conference.
