This is a SCBWI-sponsored event that I thought would be a great way for us to talk about one of the more practical (and dreaded) sides of being an illustrator: self-promotion.
The objective:
Review our work with an eye towards what will make an attractive piece of promotional collateral and leave with a print-ready PDF by the end of the session.
The plan:
We spend the first hour or two reviewing the work that everyone brings in on a USB stick. We talk about how some pieces might work better for post cards, business cards or tearsheets. We can also share information on print services and other types of promotion that have or haven't worked for us.
Break for lunch (boterham & zo).
After lunch, all participants choose one type of promotional item that they want to mock up for the afternoon. I do a little fast work in InDesign and >presto!< everyone leaves with a print-ready PDF to get the fall off to a good start.
We can follow up in a month or two to talk about how we're using our promo items to advertise ourselves.
All promotional material will also be featured on our chapter's blog afterwards. Sounds fun?

Cost: €3 for scbwi-members / €5 for non-members (for the snacks and such)
