International Central FAQ

International Central
Frequently Asked Questions

What is the International Central Region?
International Central is made up of members outside the US who do not have an SCBWI chapter in their country.

Why am I listed in the International Central region?
Any member who lives outside the US and does not have an SCBWI Chapter in their county will be listed in the “international central region”

Why doesn’t my region have a chapter?
An active Regional Advisor (RA) is needed for a country to have an SCBWI Chapter. Being an RA is a volunteer position and a major commitment. Sometimes there is a transition between RAs when the acting RA steps down or moves away from the area where the chapter is located.

How can I meet other SCBWI members in my area if we do not have a chapter?
The SCBWI.org website is set up for you to easily send a message to other members. You can set up a critique group or a local meeting with other writers and illustrators in your area.

Does the International Central Region offer member meetings or conferences?
The International Central Region (along with the help of RAs around the world) holds events at the Bologna Book Fair every two years. Our next event is the SCBWI Showcase at the Bologna book fair in 2012.
