The following awards are given during the Annual Summer Conference in Los Angeles. Winners are selected from among portofolios entered in the Portfolio Showcase.


Eligibility:

Art portfolios must be submitted for display according to guidelines made available during conference registration. See display submission guidelines, available in mid-May. Only full-time conference attendees are eligible for the award. There is no prior application process for this award. Portfolios will be judged at the conference by a panel of top professionals.

The Portfolio Award

Awarded to the top three portfolios as determined by a panel of judges including industry professionals and renowned illustrators.

Grand Prize:  Trip to New York, appointments with 3 art directors

1st Honor:     Cash prize

2nd Honor:    Cash prize

Mentorship Award

The goal is to identify, develop and nurture publishable illustrators.

-Each member of the Illustrators Committee will identify one illustrator from the portfolio exhibit as a Mentee for advanced level critique and mentoring.

-The winners will be announced at the Portfolio Showcase opening.

-Mentees will meet with each Board Illustrator Committee Mentor for a 15 minute one-on-one session to discuss their work, ask questions, get suggestions, and be challenged to take his/her work to the next level.

-Mentors and Mentees will meet as a group to share information, tips and create career development strategies.

 


 

At the Annual Winter Conference in New York, the portfolio showcase winner receives a cash prize.
