So happy your safe Sarah and Starfish, and that Max is safe and sound V.

V. I hope your power stays on and I'm glad the tide's going out.

We're getting rain and some gusty winds in the foothills of NC tonight and tomorrow. It should be an interesting (WET!) day out on the bread route.

Glad everyone is okay.

For the future, if you're worried about windows blowing in and you can't board them up. Opening them a crack allows the pressure inside and outside to equalize. Just make sure to move thing you don't want getting wet or that might blow and leave doors to the rooms open. I've done this with cat 2 storms and been fine.

Actually have time to check the boards thanks to Irma. Lol. We are a little north and slightly east of  Orlando, and fared well despite Irma going off track and staying more easterly. Man, she was killing me with all the indecision. Lol.

We kept power for once. That NEVER happens, so we were shocked. Trees fell aound the neighborhood, and some downed power lines, but no damage at our house. Although, the neighbor's tree uprooted a little, leaning toward our house. We are hoping to get at least the top taken off before Jose possibly hits in abother week (SIGH). If this is gonna be like 2004....  :aah We are out of school through tomorrow, but expect to resume Thurs.

Anyway, we were incredibly lucky. This storm was a monster.

Yes, so happy to hear you made it through Irma without any damage to your home, Larissa. Hopefully you'll be able to get that tree down quickly. And yes! GO  AWAY JOSE!

Sunshine for Vijaya! And Larissa checked in, as well as Mindy (by proxy)! It's wonderful to hear that the Blue Boarders are all safe!  :love5

We've finally dug out from the aftermath--we took down the window boards and picked up the tree limbs and branches the morning after the storm, and today my husband and son fixed the fence well enough to keep our dog safe when we let him out--it's not pretty, but it's sturdy enough to hold until our fence guy can get to us. We made a final push after the fence repair and raked and bagged the twigs and leaves that blanketed our yard. It feels great to move on and return to some kind of normalcy, although all the schools will remain closed until Monday, since so many families are still waiting for power to be restored.

Thanks again, everyone. Your support really lifted my spirit during this ordeal.  :grouphug2

Hilary, I sent you a PM with my email address.  :hug And Starfish, you live in the Tampa area? Maybe we can meet up at one of the local SCBWI meetings. :)

Larissa! Thank you for checking in. I've been very worried about you. Please get that tree down before another storm hits! That sounds very dangerous! :grouphug2 :love5

Thanks to the rest of you for checking in, too. I'm so relieved to hear so many people here that were affected have had minimal damages due to Irma. Looks like she expended most of her wrath on those poor outlying islands. (I'm still in shock at the devastation on those Caribbean islands.)
