Go to Search at the bottom of your Twitter page. #queryfail is currently a trending topic so you won't even have to search for it.

Otherwise, click this: http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23queryfail

I'm looking forward to following #queryfail when I get home today.

I haven't looked at it at all.  After the fuss over Twitter being misused by members of Congress during the president's speech as well as Jon Stewart's lampoon of it a few night's ago, I don't think it's for me.  I get sidetracked enough by the Blueboards.  Maybe if I ever get published I'll have to do it, but it escapes me why anyone would be interested in what I'm doing on a daily basis.

I find it is not so much about people following you (though that is nice) but about who you are following.

There's also a #querywin thread  =)

today I'm glad to follow the queryfail and query win 'threads'

I agree - about who's going to care what I did today or what I ate for lunch -- but I think it's a good resource for finding out more about editors and agents & publishing

I spend time on it as a reward / motivaton for accomplishing something else that I don't feel like doing    :D

Okay I joined the Twitter craze b/c my fave part of Facebook are the updates.  So, may as well go where it's fairly much about updating.  I cruised this thread and have tried to follow as many of you guys here as I could.  Although I'd normally feel guilty about adding yet another social network thing to my full plate of procastination tools, I have pretty much given up Myspace...so this fills that void.  :hahaha

I'm yet another person who is joining Twitter without a clear idea why (I still haven't even figured out Facebook, really). Peer pressure, I suppose. :) Here's mine: https://twitter.com/carriebp

I'm going through and following every person who has posted on this thread. Feel free to follow me too, or not. I can't promise I'll be interesting.

BTW Do any of the apps allow you to organize one's followers into categories such as "writers" and "friends" or allow you to make a top followers list similar to myspace's top friends?

Yes, Tweetdeck allows this. You can create "groups" with whatever criteria you want to filter by. Every time you follow a new person though, you'll have to manually add them to whatever group you want them in.

I know what you mean!! It's kind of like THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES and maybe somebody in Twitterland is laughing at all of the mad followers. Sigh. I suppose we'll soon find out! :-) Heck. In the world of Cyberspace, I've become a joiner. Yikes!

Is tweetdeck something anyone can use, or is it an Iphone app (not that I know anything about that.)

It's free and it's an application for your computer that runs on Adobe Air (also free I think). I'm on a mac, but I assume it works on a PC as well? I find it so much easier to organize than the website version (and I've noticed I lose @replies on the website version when someone replies to more than one person and I'm the 2nd person in the list. But tweetdeck catches those).

Thanks Shana for mentioning tweetdeck, and it does run on Macs and Windows (Vista and XP) and even Linux. I'll have to check it out.

I actually have followers - I think I found my new procrastinating tool. Like I needed one  :whistle

I meant to say also that you can add it to your myspace and facebook so that they both get updated when you post a twitter message. It's great for when you have a new book promo opportunity, giveaways, new review, new sale, finished a mss, whatever!  :) I get responses on Facebook whenever I post on twitter usually.

I'm still figuring out Twitter...apparently my name is shortened so if you put in my full name it won't work.

So my Twitter is www.Twitter.com/LindaJoySinglet

I did go ahead and also sign up with LindaSingleton but since I have over 80 followers on the original one I'll probably keep posting there.

I have been trying new things, though, like following one actress, book sites like School Library Journal, a big name author (and she followed me back! Cool!), plus writer friends.

Someday I may even allow internet & texting on my phone and use Twitter there...but not quite ready for that craziness yet.

I've really been trying to figure out how to do this. Can you enlighten me?? Sorry to bug, but I'm a bit, ummm ... , twitter challenged.
Thanks!

Debby, that blog post was so funny!

Okay, I popped on twitter to see what the fuss was about, but it really did look like the blog post Debby linked to.

I must be even more twitter challenged than most.

Ok, still looking for good twitters to follow. But also wanted to tell you all what I decided to twitter. Yes, I am going to twitter updates on any new contracts and acceptances. Since I LOVE animals, I am going to twitter a fun, weird, interesting animal fact each day. Maybe it will be a story starter for someone! I didn't create the facts, I am just finding them for you! So, feel free to use any fact and go with it!  Good Luck!
