How many of us were unsettled to find we couldn't get to our beloved Blue Boards on Halloween day?
And thrilled when the technical glitches got worked out and we could get back?
Me, too. So I think this is a good time to suggest we all go buy a Verla Kay book -- for someone for the holidays, or for a literacy program near you, or for a school or library you love. Verla puts what I'm sure are countless hours and not an insignificant amount of money into maintaining, monitoring, and trouble-shooting the boards. She's just a person and author, not some institution somewhere, and we need to remember and appreciate that. (And I know there are a cast of moderators who also spend hours and hours... which are also appreciated. So if ya'll have books out and want to remind us, this thread would be a good place to do it.)
I'm going now to order a book or two that I know I'll be able to give away before Christmas. I'd like to suggest that others reading this do, too... so Verla doesn't have to get a job in a shoe store
and no longer has time to provide this for us!
