Roll Call: Canadians
« on: April 25, 2012, 11:25 AM »
Hello everyone,

I'm interested in finding out how many Canadians are on this board with me. I know a few of you, but it would be nice to have all the information in one place. Please post here if you are a Canadian living in Canada, an American living in Canada or even a Canadian living in America. Please let us know here if you are an author, illustrator, or both. It would also be good to know which type of things you write or illustrate. Don't forget to include the city or area (if you don't want to be too specific) you are from. I live in Surrey, BC, but I always tell people the Vancouver area so people from other countries have a better understanding of where I live. I want to know for my own curiosity, and maybe even networking down the road.

So it's like a Canadians Anonymous thread?  :moose

Hi...I'm Arty and I'm a Canadian. I've been a Canadian as long as I can remember. I came out as a Canadian to my writing friends about 3 years ago and they have all been very supportive.

I live in the Okanagan at the mo, and have done time on Vancouver Island, the Kootenays, the Lower Mainland (Vancouver) and Toronto, but am originally from Northern BC. (I was actually born in the tiny town where Liam Neeson's movie the Grey was filmed) :snow

I'm an author/illustrator, agented but not published. I also write MG/YA and the occasional potty limerick.  :ha

Hélène, I'm just "vacationing" in this Canadian thread,... cuz otherwise, I wouldn't be allowed! Just a visitor here. You'd know if I was near. I'd be behind the nearest tree in your front yard. Maybe with a camera. The neighbors would probably alert you.  :eyeballs:

haha I was going to say I think Salina's vacation is only in the dim recesses her mind, Hélène. Because if she were in Canada, she'd be visiting me, right Spitty???

Great list so far. Just wanted to say I'm a bit embarrassed. Of course there are other countries than Canada and America (no really!). You could be originating from any country (not just America) just as long as you live in Canada now (or are a Canadian that lives outside of Canada now as previously stated). It's also nice to hear from visitors and well wishers, SYoon! That was such a typical American thing of me to do.  :embarrassed2  Carry on!

well, holy smokes! Wouldn't that have been SOMETHING to live close to another writer!! Hope you like it down there where the winters are milder but feel colder. (I worked out of Guelph for a year. Brrr)

You're closer to the Niagra Falls SCBWI conference now though. Much fun! Hope to meet sometime.

That would have been very cool! I don't miss the snow, but we get this insane damp cold that just rips through you down here. Brr, for sure!

Not exactly close, but you're right, it's not super far either :)

I offer elocution lessons via Skype. For just £5 you can learn to say war-tur rather than wahda, plaahnts rather than plehnts and so on and so forth. All very proper! He he.

Not sure my phonetic spelling does any accent justice, but I tried!

Siski, I used to date a Brit, and he drilled how to say Worcestershire sauce into my head...whuster-sher (or as close as my phonetic spelling will allow  :eh2 )...so I'll grant you honorary Canadian status if you'll grant me honorary Brit status??

Deal??
