Aspiring YA author, almost PhD in psych, and psychology instructor. I recently started a blog about psychology (lifepsychle.com).

Sometimes I wish I lived in New York and could be part of the cool YA club that you sometimes read about in the acknowledgments sections of books. I don't know any writers in my area, so it's really nice to connect online.

Used to live a few floors over author Eric Wilson in an apartment in Victoria. Do I get extra points for that?

Hi everyone.

I'm from somewhere that isn't Toronto but it's close enough to it. I write realistic YA fiction, usually with a focus on queerness and diversity in general. My first manuscript is done, and now I'm working on a 2nd one.

I've been a member of SCBWI for a few years but first I somehow never had access to the forums the first year (and didn't know they existed), and then I sort of forgot they were there. Catching up now! I'm also a member of the Writers' Community of Durham Region.

Nice to connect with other Canadian writers!  :stars3

I know, right?!? And my husband comes up your way for work once every month or so. I might have to tag along next time and we can have coffee and talk shop! And it would be great to organize a little island get together, too! All the SCBWI stuff seems to happen in Vancouver, and I just don't get over there ever.

Arti, I hardly ever get over to the mainland, either. Definitely message me (FB might be the best) if you are coming up this way, and we'll get together.  :coffee

And yes to an Island Blueboarder meet-up!

I'm on the island, just north of Victoria. I used to live in Victoria, though. It's one of my favorite places in the whole world.

Rachel, the stuff I'm talking about is with the SCBWI Canada west chapter. You might have to join if you want to play.  :poke

Hi everyone! What a fun thread!! I been prowling the boards today but haven't really spent much time here before.

I am a Canadian living in Ireland for the last 10 years or so. I'm Irish, Scottish, Welsh, French Acadian, and Greek in heritage, just to mix it up a little.

I've lived in Nova Scotia, Ontario, Manitoba, Quebec, and British Columbia, and I've visited all of the provinces, but still have to get to the three territories! I feel pretty Canadian with five provinces under my belt.

Alas, my Irish friends assure me that I do not have even an iota of an Irish accent, though they love to tease me whenever I say "out and about" (I was born in Halifax). My lack of an Irish lilt disappoints the folks back home no end when I go to visit.

I'm writing a chapter book/young MG novel at the moment, and I'm prepublished. None of us are "aspiring". If you're writing, you're a writer, whether or not you're published.

I'll be at the NYC conference in 2016, so give me a shout out if you see me there!
