My Book as a Mini-Opera?
« on: March 28, 2014, 07:00 PM »
I just got an invitation from a class in Oakland, California, to attend a mini-opera they are performing of my Gold Fever book! I am so thrilled and honored I can hardly stand it. The best part of their invitation is that the mini-opera is being performed right at the same time we will traveling close to that area. We (my husband and I) are going to plan to attend. I can't believe it! I'm still in  :aah  and :woo about it.  :yeah

Wow, that's incredible, Verla! I hope they'll let you take a video, or at least some photos to share with us. Yay for the mini opera and double yay for perfect timing!

That is amazing! Congratulations!!! I had the opportunity to see the world premier of the MineCraft opera at Virginia Tech this fall, and it was so interesting to see how they translated the characters and setting of the game into an opera. (If you are not familiar with MineCraft, it is an online world-building game that my 11-year-old boys are crazy about.) To see your actual BOOK turned into an opera would be 100 times better!!!! Maybe you will get to share a video clip from it--that would be great to see!

It's a fourth grade class and I am SO eager to see them perform. I imagine they were VERY surprised this morning when they found out I was actually going to attend. They probably sent the invitation assuming I most likely would not be able to be there. I wish I could have had a hidden camera in the room when they got that email saying my husband and I WOULD be able to attend!

My granddaughter is in the fourth grade near Oakland.  I can only imagine what the reaction would be if this happened in her classroom. Verla, it is fabulous!  The kids will have a wonderful time and always remember you gracing their performance.
