I'll be at the panel -- let's all try to find each other there!

My signing at 1 is against Poehler and the Princess Bride -- I'd rather take on Grisham too. There's no good time because there's such huge star power, not just writers but celebrity writers. My comfort is that if there is no one for me to sign for, there's also no one to see me not having people sign :)

But Mike, Ellen, and crew will pack them in...

The panel is happening now. The room is overfull, standing room only, and BEA had to turn people away because there wasn't enough room.

Terrific event! I was in awe of the panelists' eloquence. Very inspiring. They wouldn't let me in at first because it was so packed. I had to wait around for some poor soul to leave to use the bathroom. LOL. Then I had to squeeze in the back and stand the whole time. It was worth it! And I got to meet Mike and Kell in person! *waves* I wanted to say hi to ello but the panelists were mobbed with people!

I didn't see Stephanie Ruble or Danette, but then, I'm not sure what they look like! Were you guys there?

I was there! I would have cried if they hadn't let me in! It was truly an inspiring event and I was so happy to be able to witness such greatness. This movement went from a ripple to a tidal wave!

I was there! Sorry I didn't see you Diana, Kell and Danette! (Or maybe I did, but didn't realize it because we've never met.)

The panel was amazing!

If you weren't able to make it, here's a quick description: Ellen talked at the beginning about upcoming plans (working with FirstBook, the NEA, and a conference in 2016), after that, the panel started, with Lamar Giles, Mike Jung, Jacqueline Woodson, Grace Lin, and Matt de la Pena. I.W. Gregorio asked the panel questions, and opened up for a few questions from the audience at the end. Then it was all over -way too soon! It was wonderful to hear Ellen and Mike and the rest of the panel speak, and to hear the reaction from the crowd!

That description doesn't do it justice, so I hope there's audio or video that will be posted (someone near me was recording).

After the panel, WeNeedDiverseBooks had a table in the BookCon section of the BEA hallway. The times I was there, they were mobbed. The pins, bookmarks, and stickers went fast!

So happy I could attend! Can't wait to see what they do next!

Update: Forgot to say that Aisha Saeed and Marie Keyn spoke before Ellen, but I didn't hear them speak and am sorry to have missed them.

Hi Stephanie. I don't know what you look like (i didn't see any cartoon cows) so I didn't know who to look for! Anyway, IWgregorio tweeted that audio would be posted tomorrow at Diversebooks.org.

Great to see Mike, IWGregorio, and Diana (looks just like her profile pic). I didn't get to fight the crowd for Ellen, and Danette is another mystery. So close too! Excellent panel.

Yes, sorry we didn't get to meet, Stephanie! It really was terrific. Glad you were able to go.

Kell, you looked just like your avatar, too! Recognized you right away. You know, I actually did see a cartoon cow in the audience. But it turned out her name was Gladys, not Stephanie. :) Just joking, Stephanie. By the way, your new avatar is adorable!

I'm happy to hear that there will be audio available online.

Hey guys! I'm so sorry I didn't get to see all of you! I was a bit glassy-eyed and tired and the introvert in me was overwhelmed by all the people! But it was a great event! I'm so glad that we were able to present ourselves so well. AND THANK YOU to all the blueboarders who came out to support us!! You guys are all so awesome!!
