I was there! Sorry I didn't see you Diana, Kell and Danette! (Or maybe I did, but didn't realize it because we've never met.)
The panel was amazing!
If you weren't able to make it, here's a quick description: Ellen talked at the beginning about upcoming plans (working with FirstBook, the NEA, and a conference in 2016), after that, the panel started, with Lamar Giles, Mike Jung, Jacqueline Woodson, Grace Lin, and Matt de la Pena. I.W. Gregorio asked the panel questions, and opened up for a few questions from the audience at the end. Then it was all over -way too soon! It was wonderful to hear Ellen and Mike and the rest of the panel speak, and to hear the reaction from the crowd!
That description doesn't do it justice, so I hope there's audio or video that will be posted (someone near me was recording).
After the panel, WeNeedDiverseBooks had a table in the BookCon section of the BEA hallway. The times I was there, they were mobbed. The pins, bookmarks, and stickers went fast!
So happy I could attend! Can't wait to see what they do next!
Update: Forgot to say that Aisha Saeed and Marie Keyn spoke before Ellen, but I didn't hear them speak and am sorry to have missed them.
