At last, our tiny island has a following.
There is a workshop in progress with the fine author, Sheena Wilkinson. I've only been to SCBWI conferences and received a critique, which frankly, didn't help much. It was a generic "this is what you shouldn't do". There was no real critique there.
This weekend, Sheena has offered her services as a critique, as well as giving a talk on the business of writing.
I haven't written in such a long time that I can only think of one story to take along and it isn't even finished.
Would that be appropriate?

Of course it would, thundering. And what a lovely way to get back to writing again! It can be so encouraging to go to a workshop, see your own work in a different light, and get a look at what others are doing.

I hope you go and have a great time!!

Fiona, you have no idea how many times I've thought of you since we adopted a pair of kittens -- they sound like thundering elephants!

I agree with JFriday. A workshop is a great way to kick-start the writing life. I hope you go. Bring some truffles too.
