On the run from the Organization, Starr and Christian find safety on the Qualla Boundary with their friends, Ben and Coda, but Starr needs answers. She owes her dear dead friends, Sami and Jody, that much. She forms a team of her own to fight the general and his recruits.
Di, a mutual friend and anti-everything is a no-brainer, plus her Taser will come in handy. Frank, Starr’s BFF, will put his life on the line for her. Ben and Coda, not to be outdone by Starr’s friends, also swear their allegiance. Christian’s the only hold out. He knows what the Organization is capable of. He has the beaten body to prove it, but when Starr wants something, she gets it.
Now that the team’s together, everything should be perfect. Trouble is Starr loves Christian but so does Di. And Frank, well, he’s never been very good at hiding his love for Starr. Will his four-year long crush on her threaten the safety of the team?
Life becomes tense on the Qualla Boundary, sparks fly, and the Organization is about to smash in their door.
After the stunning debut novel of the series was released earlier this year, it seems 2017 is the year for Kim Briggs rise to the top spot with this wonderful and exciting YA sequel.
Starr Lost continues where the first book in the series, Starr Fall left off. Starr is still on the run with Christian, and the Organisation are on her tracks, determined to bring back their lost recruit to the programme. However Starr refuses to go back, and will do anything in her power to keep herself and those dear to her, safe from harm.
First off, sequels can be sometimes disappointing to read, especially when they carry on from a particularly high action novel prior, which Starr Fall definitely was. However this book definitely does not disappoint at all. It picks up right where we left it and that was one of my favourite things about it! You weren’t questioning what happened between the two books, and you could easily just flow back into the series, even after being away from it for a while.
Starr Lost also gives us a new POV within the book, and switches between Starr’s perspective and that of her and Christian’s friend, Di’s perspective. I loved this because it was so refreshing seeing all of the events from another viewpoint, and the differences between how Di and Starr view things and react to things was just perfect. It really added a depth to the book that we didn’t see in Starr Fall and it was brilliant.
The characters in general were written and developed beautifully. The addition of Frank and Di into the mix really completed the dynamic of the group, and it had the best effect. One of my favourite things is that is can be so easy in YA books to concentrate on the romantic relationship aspect completely and ignore every other character, but Kim writes this book so well that it’s balanced out perfectly. Not only do you have the relationship between Starr and Christian, but you also have the tone of the importance of family and how family doesn’t need to be blood relatives, sometimes the most important people to you that feel like family are those who are there for you when you need them the most. I loved this in the book, as it really created such an emotion, and love for each character not only together but individually too. It was beautifully written.
It was great how we find out so much more about the Organisation in this book, and it was so good how it answered all of the questions that were left after finishing Starr Fall, but it also created so many more to constantly leave you guessing!
The book was so well paced, and constantly had me on the edge of my seat! I stayed up well into the early hours of the morning to finish it because I just couldn’t put it down. I was hooked! The ending was so well thought out that I am now BEGGING for the next book in the series! I can’t wait to carry on with the story.
I am honestly so in love with this series, the characters and the direction that the narrative seems to be taking. If you thought Starr Fall was good – you aren’t ready for this one!
