The Wish Twister

Synopsis:

Finn Grant just wants to dodge school bullies and get home to his new sleuth game, Haunted Holmes, but once in his room he finds a most peculiar card for his 11th birthday--an eye mysteriously appears on the cover, along with an urgent appeal for help. When a door in the illustration opens, Finn taps it and he's whisked to the magical land of Capriliya--and to his first real case. Someone has stolen a wish-fulfilling machine and is using it to create all sorts of crazy disasters, and it's up to Finn to solve the mystery and find the thief before more chaos is unleashed on the world. As Finn and his new friends use a veggie-powered flying machine to follow the trail of clues, the culprit swiftly gains unlimited power. The case seems hopeless. Faced with an enemy who can overpower and outrun anyone, Finn is stumped--how can he discover the identity of the demolisher, outsmart him and stop him before the catastrophes spread to Finn's own world? And even if he can do all that, how does he solve the mystery of finding his way home?

The Wish Twister received a 5-Star review from Readers' Favorite, reviewed by Jack Magnus:

"The Wish Twister is a wildly creative adventure that’s vaguely reminiscent of Alice’s adventures. Finn has much more control, however, in this fantasy than Alice does. He gets to shoulder an awesome amount of responsibility as the fate of the universe rests on his shoulders, and a budding detective couldn’t ask for a better first case or a more resourceful and entertaining cast of companions. The Wish Twister is filled with magical images and colorful chaos as Finn tries to find and stop the thief who’s creating a cascading chaos that seems unstoppable and overwhelming. The Wish Twister is so much fun! It’s a mystery that begs to be solved by the reader as well as Finn, and the clues are all there waiting for you to do just that. I loved The Wish Twister and am looking forward to solving more cases with Finn."

From Midwest Book Reviews . . .

"The Wish Twister is a book all kids will enjoy, relate to, and read again and again. A not-so- simple birthday card from Uncle Snorri pulls eleven-year-old Finn into a magical land where he's responsible to save 'the entire world.' Finn's wits and sense of adventure help him and his new friends, Algie and Jillywick, set a trap to solve the mystery right in the nick of time. Devi Anderson Anton captivates her young readers with her delightful sense of fun and whimsy."
