MANUSCRIPT REVIEW GUIDELINES

Fiction/Non-Fiction
Limited to 10 pages + 1-page synopsis
Typed, 12 point Times New Roman, double-spaced. See the SCBWI publication “TIPS FOR MANUSCRIPT CONSULTATIONS" for complete correct formatting.

Picture Books
Limited to ONE (1) project.
With or without a dummy.
Please provide a separate typed, 12-point, Times New Roman, double-spaced manuscript in addition to dummy. See the SCBWI publication “TIPS FOR MANUSCRIPT CONSULTATIONS" for complete correct formatting.

Reviews are 20-minute one-on-one meetings with a writer, editor, or applicable publishing individual based on availability. You must be a confirmed SCBWI Bologna Biennial Conference 2008 attendee to be granted a review. Payment must be received by January 31, 2008 to reserve your place. Review fee: 45 Euros. First-come, first-served.

Please note that you may request only one review appointment. Please send your manuscript text as an .RTF or .DOC attachment via email to bolmanuscripts@scbwi.org by January 31, 2008. Anything received after January 31 will not be accepted. Anything hand-written or otherwise not adhering to the above formatting guidelines will be rejected.

PORTFOLIO REVIEWS

Limited to ten to fifteen pieces in A4 or 11 x 8.5 inch size.
(For guidelines please see ‘What Should I put in My Portfolio’? in the SCBWI Publicatons Guide to Writing and Illustrating for Children)

You are required to send a SAMPLE PAGE of your artwork in advance, along with the extra fee added to your conference registration payment. The SAMPLE PAGE should be in PDF format and can contain one or more images on an A4 or 11 x 8.5 inch size page, with your name and contact details. Please attach and email your PDF sample to bolportfolios@scbwi.org by January 31, 2008.

You must be a confirmed SCBWI Bologna Biennial Conference 2008 attendee to be granted a review. Please send your review payment with your registration for the conference. Reviews are 20-minute one-on-one meetings with an art director, or applicable publishing individual based on availability.

Please note that you may request only one portfolio review appointment. Do not send original artwork ahead. Bring your portfolio to the conference and your assigned meeting time. PAYMENT and SAMPLE PAGE must be received by January 31, 2008 to reserve your place. Review fee: 45 Euros. First-come, first-served.
