If
you have signed up for an individual consultation, please read through
the submission guidelines below. Consultations are available only to
full-time conference attendees who are SCBWI members. Due to the number
of consultations we schedule each year, space is limited to ONE CONSULTATION
PER MEMBER. Choose either "MANUSCRIPT" (picture book, middle-grade
OR YA novel) or "PORTFOLIO."
PLEASE
NOTE: In a change of policy, this year those participating in the manuscript
and portfolio consultations must sign up for the consultation when registering
for the conference. Due to the high volume of registrations and participation,
Manuscript and Portfolio Consultations may no longer be added to a conference
registration after the fact. If you register up-front for a consultation
and then decide you cannot participate by the June 12th deadline, we
will be happy to refund the consultation fee. There will be no refunds
given after the June 12th deadline.
You
MUST send an 8.5” X 11” promo sheet (one-sided only)
with your registration form or via email (up to 5MB in size; compressed/zipped
files are fine) to LAportfolios@scbwi.org.
If
sent by email, please be advised that we are on a PC platform. We
can view the following file types: .pdf, .tif, .bmp, .ai, .psd,
and .jpg. Please save files as 200dpi to 300dpi since we do print
them out.
Promo
sheets sent by email or US Mail must ARRIVE ON or BEFORE June 12th.
If
you are signing up for a manuscript consultation AND the "PROFESSIONAL
TRACK " Luncheon for published authors on Friday, August 1st,
please note that in your email or a cover page so that we
do not schedule your consultation during the lunch.
Please
make sure all of your contact information is visible on the sheet.
While
we can guarantee a professional reviewer, we cannot guarantee a
review with an art director, agent, or publisher.
Since
many of you have participated in the portfolio consultations in
the past and we utilize some of the same reviewers each year, please
indicate who has reviewed your portfolio in the past two years and
we will make sure you get someone new.
Please
note: consultation appointments take place during lunch and workshops
blocks (not during main keynote sessions). Appointment assignments
will be given with registration materials on Friday, August 1st.
After
registering online, submit your manuscript to the address below.
