FINDING THE VOICE OF YOUR SERIES CHARACTERS:
A Workshop Intensive

Bonnie Bader & Judy Goldschmidt
Editor-in-chief Bonnie Bader and Senior Editor Judy Goldschmidt lead you through the process of developing unique voices for your series characters. Enrollees will be assigned to one of two sessions: Friday & Sunday, or Saturday & Monday. Come prepared with at least one series character you have created. Enrollment will be available on a first come basis and is EXTREMELY limited. ($50)

REVISING THE YOUNG ADULT NOVEL:
A Master Class

Julie Strauss-Gabel
Associate Editorial Director Julie Strauss-Gabel leads a Master Class on writing and revising the young adult novel. Requisite for this master class is to have completed one draft of your novel. Bring this draft to work on. Class will comprise a total of four hours and replace all afternoon workshop sessions. Enrollment will be available on a first come basis and is EXTREMELY limited. ($50)

PROFESSIONAL TRACK:
Workshops, Luncheon, & Book Sale Reception

This special track is only open to published writers and illustrators (does not include self-published.) Eight targeted courses are offered plus Friday’s “Up Close with the Editors” luncheon. The SCBWI will also host a Friday evening reception in your honor where one of your titles will be on sale to conference participants. ($50)

The 2008 SCBWI Summer Conference is co-sponsored by the UCLA Extension Writers Program. Participants who complete an essay requirement are eligible to receive three UCLA Extension credits for an additional fee of $95. Effective this year, SCBWI is no longer collecting information or fees for this special program. You must call (310) 825-9971 and enroll in Reg #U2029 in order to participate.
