A NOTE TO THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE 2008 NEW YORK PORTFOLIO EXHIBITION: This year’s private portfolio display at the New York conference drew quite an impressive crowd of art directors and editors from Simon and Schuster, Penguin Putnam Young Readers Group (all imprints), Houghton Mifflin, Clarion, Little Simon, Aladdin, Random House, Harper Collins, Hyperion, Truimph Learning, Schwartz and Wade Books, Boyds Mills Press, Farrar, Straus and Giroux, Henry Holt, Little Brown and Company, Scholastic, Knopf, Delacorte Dell, Macmillan/McGraw-Hill, Arthur A. Levine Books, Abrams, Picture Windows Books, Lee and Low, Stone Arch Books, and agents from Writers House, Dystel & Goderich, Marie Brown Associates, Lindgren & Smith, Dunham Literary, and The Artist Network. All commented on the top notch quality work that they saw. We can’t send you a specific list of names because those who attended asked that they not be inundated with hundreds of postcards. They did, however, assure us that they picked up cards of those illustrators who they felt were a good match for their respective houses. |

We are thrilled to announce a new addition to the Pre-Conference Intensive for Illustrators. This is a fantastic opportunity for the illustrators who attend the Illustrators Intensive to have a private showcase of their work for members of the publishing community. Friday, February 8, 2008, there will be a private exhibition of attendees' portfolios for over 200 specially invited art directors, editors and agents from the children’s publishing houses in New York. The winners of this juried exhibition will receive cash prizes. In addition, one artist will receive the Tomie dePaola Award of $1000 in art supply gift certificates. • Only participants
in the Pre-Conference Intensive for Illustrators are eligible to submit
a portfolio. • No original
art, please—quality reprints of your work only. |
