Bryan Ballinger

Bryan Ballinger graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design in 1990 with a degree in Illustration. After moving to Seattle in 1991 and doing freelance work for companies such as Nintendo Power magazine, he started working at Microsoft as an illustrator. Bryan was lead illustrator for the first version of the award-winning Encarta CD-ROM encyclopedia.

Bryan was also the illustration lead for Explorapedia, a highly acclaimed CD-ROM children's encyclopedia. Explorapedia's graphics received very high reviews in publications such as Publisher's Weekly, Family PC Magazine, CD-ROM Magazine, PC Magazine, and New Media Canada. He was also awarded a patent for his work on Microsoft's Explorapedia.

Recently Bryan got to see some of his work on the big screen on the movie Jonah: A Veggietales Movie. He did 3D modeling on the film, specifically props for the grand finale. He's also done modeling and lighting on the 321 Penguins children’s video series.


Bryan has illustrated a number of children’s books including the Good Sports series from Zondervan, God Made You Special, and God Loves You Very Much from Big Idea Books, and most recently he co-wrote and co-illustrated The Great Cheese Squeeze (www.cheesesqueeze.com), and image from which was accepted into Spectrum's 10th Annual Best in Contemporary Fantasy Art.

Bryan has received 3D Design Magazine’s Big Kahuna Award in the print category. Tusky the Walrus has been accepted into the Society of Illustrators First Biennial Dimensional Salon.
