Sarah S. Brannen

Sarah S. Brannen worked for several years as a painter and architectural illustrator before she turned to writing and illustrating for children. Her first picture book, Uncle Bobby's Wedding, will be published by G.P. Putnam's Sons in 2008. She recently illustrated The ABC Book of American Homes for Charlesbridge Publishing, also due out in 2008. Her illustrations for "What I Did With My Coin Collection," by Tiger Woods, were published as part of Thanks and Giving: All Year Long by Simon & Schuster in 2004.

Her illustrations have been published in Appleseeds and Cicada Magazines, and she writes regularly for Skating Magazine. Recently, she has been working on a biography of US figure skating champion Johnny Weir and a non-fiction picture book about 19th-century Maine.

Sarah was recently awarded the 2007 Ann Barrow Scholarship from the New England chapter of SCBWI. She was the runner-up for the 2006 SCBWI Work-in-Progress Grant, the runner-up for the 2003 Don Freeman Memorial Grant-in-Aid, and a winner at the 2003 New York Showcase at the SCBWI Mid-year conference. She is represented by Karen Klockner of the Transatlantic Literary Agency.
