Please note: Most pages on the site do not require you to be logged in. The only pages not available to everyone are those pertaining to specific member information (i.e., the "For Our Members" pages) and some hidden extras that only logged in SCBWI Members will see.

Please, try clicking on everything. If you try to access a restricted area, you will see a prompt to either login or become a member. We have many resources, news items, and activities on the website for everyone who is interested in writing or illustrating for children.

Thanks,
Aaron Hartzler

Frequent Login Problems
Whenever I try to login I keep getting a message that says, "Invalid Password."
The invalid password message will pop up if we do not have your current email address on file. We either have an old email or no email at all in our records. Or we might have misspelled it when entering it into our records.

If you get the "Invalid Password" message, please send us an email at SCBWI Membership with your name and email address, and we will send you back the email address we have on file. You can then login using the old email and click on Update My Information to make any necessary corrections to your email address. If we do not have an email address for you in our files, we will add the email address you send us and email back confirmation.

I am already a member of the SCBWI, but I don't know my password.
The best way to deal with this problem is to click on "I forgot my password," entering your email address when prompted. A message will be emailed to you with your login and password.

If you do not receive an email back, then we do not have your email address on file. In that case, please send an email to SCBWI Membership and request that your email address be added to our records. Please be sure to include your first and last name in your email.

I already sent in my membership renewal through the mail, yet I am being prompted to renew online when I try to login.
If you sent your renewal in through the mail, it will be processed as soon as possible. Some renewals take a week to get to us from the time they are mailed, and then it takes us a few days to process them. We're sorry for the delay and hope that the website is worth the wait. Please remember that you can still visit all the sections of the website available to the public, you just can't get to the For Our Members section.

When I enter my information and click the Login button, the boxes go blank.

This indicates that your browser isn't set up to accept cookies. We use cookies to keep track of your login ID and password on the website, allowing members access to the Members Only pages. Cookies are a necessary and integral part of our website.

To fix the problem in Internet Explorer (IE), on the menu bar go to Tools... Internet Options... Privacy. Click the "Default" button, then close and re-open IE and try to login again. If you desire higher privacy, you can set it to Medium High or High, then click the Edit button and add www.scbwi.org to the list to allow cookies.

To fix the problem in Netscape, select Edit from the menu bar, then Preferences. Scroll down to Advanced. Choose the option "Accept all cookies" or "Accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server." Select the latter and it should work fine.

Login Troubleshooting

Please keep the following points in mind when logging in to our website:

1. Login ID and Password fields are case senstive. Therefore, please enter your password in ALL CAPS. Most emails are entered into our system in all lowercase. If neither way works, please send an email to SCBWI Membership requesting which email we have on file for you. Be sure to include your name!

2. The login to the SCBWI website and the login to the Discussion Boards are different. Your SCBWI login information will not work on the Discussion Boards. The Discussion Boards are a separate system that requires you to register with them, creating a unique username and password.

3. Changes made by the Executive Office to membership records take at least 24 hours before they are reflected on the website.

4. The SCBWI Executive Office is closed on Saturdays and Sundays, so emails sent on those days will be responded to as soon as possible the following Monday.
5. BEFORE you login the Member Login box should look something like this:

AFTER you are logged in the Member Login box should look something like this:

If you are experiencing login-related problems that are not discussed above, please email Webmaster detailing the problem. Please include as much information as you can, including the type of computer you are using (Mac vs. PC) and the internet browser you are using (Internet Explorer 4, 5, 6 or Netscape, and so on). Thanks for your patience during our transition to this new website!
