Congratulations to Jane Yolen, who has been awarded the title of Damon Knight Grand Master by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA), a distinction shared by some of the most legendary writers in sci-fi history. She is the 33rd Grand Master on a list that includes Ray Bradbury, Ursula Le Guin, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Harlan Ellison and Anne McCaffrey. A longtime board member of the SCBWI, Yolen is the genre-spanning author of over 350 books for adults and children, including Owl Moon, The Devil’s Arithmetic and the popular How Do Dinosaurs series. She published eight books in 2016 alone, including The Seelie King’s War (Viking), the final installment in The Seelie Wars fantasy trilogy that concluded this November.
The SFWA will present Yolen with her award next May at the Nebula Conference in Pittsburgh.
