ABOUT ANNE-MARIE PERKS

  • Anne-Marie Perks is an artist, illustrator, animator and writer who draws on themes from myth and fairy tales and influences from great past artists such as Edmund Dulac. Her work has been published in children’s and adult books, magazines and advertising. She has exhibited her artwork internationally. She has a BA Hons Illustration Degree and MA in Children’s Illustration from North Wales School of Art, and an Associate of Arts Degree in Fine Art and Graphic Design from the University of California Riverside. She feels very lucky to have taken the course Marla Frazee teaches years ago in children’s illustration at Art Centre Pasadena and feels it made a huge impact to her work.

Anne-Marie also serves as the Illustrator Coordinator for the British Isles, taken on in 2001. She has been part of growing SCBWI in the UK with Natascha Biebow (RA) from a handful of members to the amazing array of events we have today.

When not teaching illustration and animation, Anne-Marie works on her own picture book and graphic novel ideas and has a book coming out with Books Beyond Words, specialising in books for learning disabilities and non-English speakers, in 2014. She also illustrates for film and book covers.
