ABOUT COLLEEN JONES

  • I am a technical writer by day, which pays the bills but does not satisfy the soul. I write stories for kids but especially for the kid in me. I emigrated from Canada to Ireland in 2005 and have lived in Cork since 2009.

I am the Regional Advisor for SCBWI Ireland. We are a small but active chapter with new activities and events in the works. We currently have an online critique group, which “meets” monthly from September to June. We have free social meetups in Belfast, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Longford, and Waterford, where writers and illustrators can get together to chat, share knowledge, and celebrate successes.

ARTIST STATEMENT

  • I’m working on a funny urban fantasy series for younger Middle Grade about the friendship between a human boy and his dragon best friend. I’m also drafting a historical young-adult novel based on my great-aunt who emigrated from Ireland to Canada and taught on a First Nations reserve in the 1920s.
